Widows, Orphans and the Poor

Widows

We provide financial assistance to elderly widows in genuine need who have no other source of support.

  • One of the women we assist is looking after nine grandchildren.
  • Another obtains a meagre income by collecting recyclable materials and selling them on. She was sleeping on the street until we were able to rent a room for her to live in.
  • We formerly supported a widow whose family rejected her because she was a Christian. When she died, the family refused to pay for a funeral, so we helped defray the cost.

Orphans

We believe that best care for orphans is provided in a home, rather than an institutional, setting.

We are currently supporting just one family of orphans who are being cared for by their widowed grandmother, but we are seeking other opportunities and resources to expand this to help other families.

Poor and Needy

Guided by our team in Cambodia, we provide small, one-off grants to people in need whom they encounter, for example:

  • a person who lives in a makeshift shack;
  • a disabled child;
  • a woman with a newborn baby.
