After Ross had been moved by watching the film <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0087553\"><em>The Killing Fields<\/em><\/a>, God had spoken to him about sharing the good news with Cambodian people.<\/p>\n<p>During his 1994 visit Ross stayed with Myers Cooper, who had been working in Cambodia as Administrator for Southeast Asian Outreach (now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cambodiaaction.org\/\">Cambodia Action<\/a>) since 1991. One Sunday Myers invited Ross to accompany him to the church he attended. At that meeting the Holy Spirit came upon the congregation with great power, and Ross received from God a commission to establish a 'Samaritan Trust' that would bring finance and other resources into Cambodia for the work of the Kingdom of God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-1258-0-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-image\" data-index=\"1\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-image so-widget-sow-image-default-8b5b6f678277-1258\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"sow-image-container\">\n\t\t<img \n\tsrc=\"https:\/\/cambcomm.org.uk\/ccc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ross_cambodia_1994.jpg\" width=\"461\" height=\"120\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cambcomm.org.uk\/ccc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ross_cambodia_1994.jpg 461w, https:\/\/cambcomm.org.uk\/ccc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ross_cambodia_1994-300x78.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cambcomm.org.uk\/ccc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ross_cambodia_1994-250x65.jpg 250w, https:\/\/cambcomm.org.uk\/ccc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ross_cambodia_1994-150x39.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 461px) 100vw, 461px\" title=\"Rev Ross Rennie (extreme right) with Cambodian church leaders, 1994\" alt=\"Ross Rennie and Cambodian church leaders\" \t\tclass=\"so-widget-image\"\/>\n\t<\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"widget-title\">Rev Ross Rennie (extreme right) with Cambodian church leaders, 1994<\/h3><\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-1258-0-0-2\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-last-child\" data-index=\"2\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Shortly afterwards Ross met a group of Cambodian church leaders and together they committed themselves to establishing a non-denominational Christian centre on land that had formed part of the 'killing fields', where Cambodian people had been murdered during the <a href=\"http:\/\/cambcomm.org.uk\/ccc\/cambodias-holocaust\/\">Khmer Rouge regime<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-1258-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-1258-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-1258-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"3\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><h3 class=\"widget-title\">CCC is founded<\/h3>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Ross returned to his home in the United Kingdom, where he founded Cambodian Communities out of Crisis (CCC). He invited some of his friends to become the first Council members and appointed Myers as CCC's honorary representative in Cambodia.<\/p>\n<p>CCC began to raise funds, which were initially used to support the newly formed School of Practical Ministry Cambodia (SPMC), while Myers helped to set up SPMC's administrative systems in Cambodia.<\/p>\n<h3>Education<\/h3>\n<p>During a visit to Cambodia in 1996, God prompted Ross and CCC Treasurer Tony Nixon to make a grant to pay for three young Cambodian men to take courses in business studies at a college in Phnom Penh. This was the beginning of CCC's programme of <a href=\"http:\/\/cambcomm.org.uk\/ccc\/education\/\">student sponsorship<\/a>, which has continued to the present day.<\/p>\n<h3>Timothy College and Business Institute<\/h3>\n<p>In 1999 God gave to CCC a vision for a Christian college of further and higher education, to be called 'Timothy College'. CCC Council members shared this vision with Cambodian church leaders and received their support for the concept.
